From Coast to Coast the emergence of the music industry has made many people susceptible to the creative process that concedes with fashion. An underlying word that helps depict how in which Fashion & Hip Hop influence each other is simply, expression. The impact that fashion & hip hop music have on our culture it significant based on the fact that they both allow creative expression, but through different outlets. Collectively they are considered to be forms of art that help one represent themselves in our culture.
We can take it as far back to the days in which RUN DMC rocked their ADIDAS tracksuits, Kangol hats and huge gold rope chains not for endorsement but solely based on the fact those 3 pieces represented who they were. With the current emerging era of hip hop, we are continuing to see the importance that fashion and self-expression have on new rappers breaking into the industry.
MC’s such as A$AP Rocky, Iggy Azalea, Azealia Banks & Reema Major are buzzing through the industry with their own sense of style. Through them we are reminded that Hip Hop always has and always will be a form of verbal expression but fashion influences who we are and better yet, who we aspire to be.

The thought process that is utilized in the production of both hip hop and fashion is the reason why the two will always be thriving, and usually in harmony. Whether musically focused on apparel and style, or fashions based on a designer’s fascination with hip hop, hip hop music and fashion inspire each other and in turn those who are involved in either realm.
